Role summary

  • We are seeking a skilled legal compliance specialist to join our team.
  • The preferred candidate will possess a solid experience in corporate law, deal discussion and legal adherence and will serve as the internal legal consultant for the firm.
  • You will play a key role in mitigating lawful risks, making sure adherence with rules and offering strategic lawful direction to various departments and business units within our company.
  • You will also be in charge of executing and coordinating every facet of data confidentiality, anti-money laundering and adherence.

Duties  Lawful:

  • Head the process for acquiring necessary financial permits and registrations for ongoing and future goods, serving as the primary communication link with compliance-related bodies.
  • Collaborate with business teams to guarantee financial goods and solutions adhere with suitable rules.
  • Prepare, bargain and evaluate all within and outside the organization agreements, agreements and business oversight documents, making sure lawful protections match with business targets.
  • Offer counsel and direction on business oversight and legal adherence.
  • Advise on all internal lawful matters which includes agreement, job, financial and other lawful matters.
  • Advise on all Property lawful matters concerning the firm, carry out title confirmation, registration of land titles, composing and editing of all conveyancing instruments and managing all deal discussions.
  • Head lawful responses in cases of compliance-related questions, lawful talks, adherence audits, data breaches, or lawful proceedings (and coordinating connections with external counsel as relevant).
  • Preserve the company’s lawful records, documents and databases in an precise and highly structured manner.
  • Carry out lawful analysis and evaluation on applicable regulations, rules and precedents to assist organizational operations
  • Work alongside internal participants, which includes senior leaders, managers and other departments, to handle lawful concerns and guarantee adherence with legal provisions and rules.
  • Recognize wider lawful risks and concerns and formulate plans to reduce risk and settle them.
  • Help with corporate financial record, which includes mergers and purchases, joint initiatives and long-term alliances
  • Track modifications in legal provisions and rules that may effect the organization's processes and advise on possibility implications.
  • Formulate and supply lawful development and education programs for employees on applicable lawful topics.

Qualifications

  • Bsc in Law; JD or LLB preferred.
  • At least five years of expertise in a lawful role.
  • Authorized solicitor with valid Nigerian Bar Affiliation membership.
  • Demonstrated expertise as a legal advisor or similar position, ideally in a corporate environment.
  • Deep knowledge of corporate law, agreement law, and legal adherence.
  • Outstanding lawful analysis and critical thinking.
  • Deal discussion and issue resolution abilities.
  • Robust expertise in corporate financial record.
  • Outstanding critical thinking and the capability to offer sound counsel.
  • Outstanding capability to speak and compose English.
  • Competence in macOS Keynote, Numbers, and Pages - a plus.
  • Skilled in MS Excel & Word.
  • Hardworking and detail-oriented, with outstanding meticulousness.
  • Expertise operating with authorities, acquiring financial permits, and advising on adherence matters.
  • Business oversight expertise.
  • Understanding with financial solutions legal provisions and rules.
  • Capable to synthesise and convey sophisticated lawful notions to non-lawful participants transparently and succinctly.

  • 1 - 2 years Financial Solutions industry expertise a plus.

Adherence:

  • Head the development, execution and servicing & maintenance of the firm’s adherence programme, making sure adherence with supporting rules relevant us.
  • Prepare, evaluate, preserve and ensure the execution of all adherence and risk associated rules and standardized processes, which includes but not limited to capacity-building plans, confidentiality management, service issues management and document-keeping qualifications.
  • Organize and send compliance-related filings and documentation to applicable governing bodies as necessary.
  • Comprehend and analyze applicable regulations, rules and organizational guidelines.
  • Recognize and minimize lawful, compliance-related and business risks linked to our business, making sure the organization sustains a robust adherence posture.
  • Establish and supervise anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-client (KYC) frameworks, making sure adherence with governance policies and standardized best practices.
  • Carry out consistent adherence audits and risk evaluations and evaluation to recognize promise risks across all business processes.
  • Explore, keep documentation of and settle adherence concerns and incidents.
  • Formulate, test and preserve system issue and crisis management strategies to productively address and oversee possible threat events.
  • Formulate and supply adherence and risk development and education programs for employees on applicable topics.
  • Offer informed opinion to the executive guidance team on adherence and risk matters.
  • Act as the communication link with compliance-related bodies, external auditors, bank associates and government authorities. Keep management informed about compliance-related modifications.
