Role summary

The Fiber Optic Engineer is in charge of the design, installation, servicing & maintenance, and diagnosing issues of fiber optic networks to guarantee productive and dependable service dispatch. This position is critical in the growth and servicing & maintenance of the Internet Service Supplier (ISP) structure, making sure premium quality network access for clients.

Installation and Initiating:

• Supervise the installation, splicing, and running test of fiber optic cables, making sure adherence with industry guidelines and requirements.
• Set up and install relationship building tools, which includes optical line terminals (OLTs), optical network terminals (ONTs), and routers.
• Execute comprehensive running test, which includes OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) running test, power meter running test, and light acquire running test.

Project coordination:

• Strategize timetable, and oversee fiber optic installation and servicing & maintenance projects, making sure on-schedule finish within financial plan.
• Organize with service providers, vendors, and other participants to guarantee smooth implementation of fiber optic projects.
• Make sure that all work is carried out in accordance with safety rules, industry guidelines, and organisation rules.

Client assistance:

• Offer IT assistance to clients and site technicians regarding fiber optic network access concerns.
• Help in addressing client service issues connected with network effectiveness and service standard.
• Carry out in-field visits to diagnose issues and settle client concerns as required.

QA:

Execute and ensure adherence to quality assurance measures to guarantee the reliability and effectiveness of fiber optic networks. Routinely evaluate and modify technical standardized processes and guidelines to match with industry standards and technological improvement.

Development and Development:

Offer learning and direction to entry-level engineers and technicians on fiber optic installation, splicing, and servicing & maintenance methods. Stay informed with the latest progress updates in fiber optic tech and market trends.

Credentials

• Bsc in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a relevant field.
• 3+ years of expertise in fiber optic network design, installation, and servicing & maintenance, ideally inside the ISP industry.
• Competence in fiber optic splicing, running test, and diagnosing issues methods.
• Expertise with fiber optic tools, which includes OTDRs, fusion splicers, power meters, and light suppliers.
• Deep knowledge of FTTH, FTTx, and other fiber optic network architectures.
• Understanding with relationship building procedures, guidelines, and tools.
• Robust analytical abilities and meticulousness.
• Capability to operate independently and oversee various projects at the same time.

Preferred Credentials:

• Qualifications in fiber optics, which includes Accredited Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent.
• Expertise with Geographic information system mapping software and network design resources.
• Expertise in IP relationship building, routing, and switching.

Work Environment:

• On-site activities including on-site visits, installation, and diagnosing issues of fiber optic networks.
• Onsite work for network design, recordkeeping, and status updates.
• Some commute may be necessary to different project sites and client sites.
• Occasional on-call work may be necessary to handle immediate network concerns.
