Role summary

The House Master is in charge of the entire management, welfare, and discipline of students within a boarding house. The position blends ministerial care, oversight, executive guidance, and management to produce a safe, organized, and supportive workplace that aids the academic and personal development of each boarder.

Oversight & Discipline:

  • Preserve order, discipline, and suitable guidelines of conduct inside the house.
  • Oversee routine routines: wake-up, meals, prep time, recreation, prayers (if relevant), and bedtime.
  • Ensure timeliness and compliance to hostel and school plans.
  • Carry out consistent roll calls and guest accommodation inspections.

Academic Assist:

  • Track academic advancement and study habits of students during prep and study times.
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers and academic planners to handle academic matters.
  • Promote involvement in evening and weekend enrichment programs.

House Management:

  • Preserve precise records which includes presence, health data records, system issue documentation, and stock.
  • Convey routinely with parents/guardians regarding students’ welfare and effectiveness.
  • Oversee and documentation on servicing & maintenance needs, inventory, and other logistical concerns inside the house.
  • Guarantee adherence with all school rules, safeguarding standardized processes, and child protection guidelines.

Credentials & Expertise

  • At least an NCE, B.Ed., Bachelor's degree or associated discipline (Education or Child Development preferred).
  • A minimum of 3 years of expertise operating in a residential school or student welfare setting.
  • Verified ability to head and train young people with firmness, empathy, and fairness.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, information exchange, and dispute-solution competencies.
  • Robust sense of duty, discipline, and discretion.
  • Basic First Assist and Child Safeguarding accreditation (or readiness to acquire).
  • Expertise in Islamic boarding routines and values (if in a faith-based setting) is a plus.

Operating Terms:

  • This is a live-in role requiring evening, weekend, and overnight oversight.
  • Accommodation and meals are offered.
  • On-call duty in case of crises or special events.
