Automotive technician at Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in Kebbi

Primary goal

Executing autonomously, sophisticated / improved servicing, servicing & maintenance and fix of MSF vehicles and other engines according to MSF guidelines and standardized processes, in order to guarantee vehicles are in ideal running terms.

Core tasks and Duties

• Executing autonomously and making sure, all necessary sophisticated / improved servicing & maintenance and fix of MSF vehicles and mechanical tools to guarantee they are in ideal requirement for their use. This comprises the items listed duty:
• Executing servicing & maintenance according to the directions in the logbook, making sure all type of solutions to all vehicles are done on time (i.e. mini A, medium B and full C, and special solutions referred in logbook when possible).
• Running test all vehicles after each service is completed and before it is handed back to its driver
• Keeping document of vehicle’s driver remarks and carrying out repairs if needed (vehicles and other mechanical tools) and filling in service, fix or vehicle logbook. Status updates to the direct supervisor any issue connected with MSF vehicles
• In the case of a system failure, making a diagnosis, informing the direct supervisor and after authorization carrying out any sophisticated / improved repairs needed.
• Checking in the validity of all documents (yearly inspections, coverage or any other necessary documents)
• Helping in the update or development of drivers regarding vehicle solutions and servicing & maintenance
• Coordinating the inventory of expendable items, filling in the inventory cards, carrying out physical inventory inventories, carrying out orders necessary for renewing inventory, avoiding any shortage
• In charge of the technical resources, which includes extinguishers, checking they are correctly and safely used, preserving and renewing them as required and keeping the stock current.
• Keeping operating zone clean and tidy.
• Making sure that all document sheets and records connected with servicing & maintenance are always finished and getting ready needed documentation before and after any fix or necessary servicing & maintenance.
