Role summary
- Upholsters make and fix furniture with soft, padded textile covering capabilities, which includes armchairs, sofas and bedheads. This includes choosing, measuring, cutting, appropriate and sewing fabric and leather materials. Upholsterers work on household furnishings,
- You would be operating on upholstered pieces, attaching fabric using glue and staples, and in some cases may need to hand or machine-sew these fabrics or add embellishments like buttons or decorative description based on the designer's directions or client requirements.
- Using power and hand resources, submit application and install batting, foam, poly-filler and cut fabric to the wooden structure in the assembly of hand-crafted furniture
- Attach finishes, which includes buttons, trim, tassels and other decorative accessories, to finalize orders according to requirements
- Measure and cut fabric or leather pieces with the assist of patterns or stencils and industrial cutting resources to precise sizes and dimensions
- Read work orders and preserve a DB of generation status for information exchange with outside customers, in addition to in-house sales managers
- Examine the wooden structure for faults and make repairs as needed prior to upholstery application and other finish work
- Operate portable hand-sewing tools, nail guns, hobnail and tack hammers, hot-knife cutters and other industrial tools.
- Decide fabric stock and place orders with textile work collaboratively; offer status status reports about fabric accessibility to customers and managers
- Discuss complications or assembly line slow-downs with supervisors and brainstorm initiatives for boosted productivity.
Qualifications
- Operating understanding with resources, which includes tack pullers, chisels, mallets and stretchers
- Capability to estimate expenses of materials, goods and solutions
- Demonstrable comprehension of design frameworks and patterns
- Development in a vocational school or apprenticeship as an upholsterer
- Creativeness and verbal abilities are a must.
