Role summary

The ICU nursing officer delivers premium quality, patient center care to critically ill patients who require close supervising and life sustaining interventions. The ICU nursing officer will work jointly with a cross-functional team to entry, strategize execute and assess patient care.

Work tasks

  • Entry Patient physical and emotional needs, recognizing modifications and terms and responding promptly
  • Oversee life sustaining interventions which includes mechanical ventilation, cardiac supervising and hemodynamic assist.
  • Manage medication safely and precisely through sophisticated routes ( IV infusion, titration) while supervising for side impact and engagements.
  • Closely track vital signs per hour, status updates modifications to the health care team.
  • Work jointly with the health care team which includes physicians, anaesthetist,surgeons, therapist and other expert and nurses
  • Offer encouragement and education to patient’s family while offering modify and counselling.
  • Discuss objective of care and approval for standardized processes with patients and family.
  • Precisely record patient care which includes evaluation , interventions and results.
  • Address crises which includes cardiac arrest or code blue.
  • Help with Standardized processes like central line insertion, chest tube placement, artificial line insertion and other standardized processes in the ICU Engage in strategic judgment around palliative care and withdrawal of life sustaining therapy.
  • Ensure patient comfort and suitable sedation level using pain scales and sedation scoring operational structures.
  • Workplace safety and wellness: Carry out obligations and duties in adherence with Lily Hospitals’ workplace safety and wellness regulatory framework and statutory rules
  • Ensure a clean, cozy, and safe environment for patients, customers, and members of employees to assist reduce infection.
  • Ensure employees aligns with patient safety associated rules, standardized processes and procedures.
  • Guarantee alignment to all Lily Hospitals ISO accredited guidelines, COHSASA, Kaizen and all other compliance guidelines.
  • Adhere with all the offerings of Nigeria Information security Rule (NDPR) 2019.
  • Engage in Standard enhancement Plan to improve patient result.

Role expectations

  • At least academic certification of Registered Nursing officer Accreditation.
  • 1 - 3 years of applicable professional background in the general nursing expertise.
  • Must possess Post Basic Certification in critical care nursing / ICU nursing / anaesthesia and critical care nursing.
  • Must stay informed with the latest evidence based procedures and analysis in critical health care nursing.
  • Must possess a BLS and ACLS current accreditation.
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and must be authorized to practice.
  • Expertise in the Office productivity software bundle Outstanding information exchange (spoken communication and documented), interpersonal, and team lead competencies.
  • Have strong precision and meticulousness.
  • Exhibit specialist, interpersonal, and verbal abilities, critical ability, compassion.
  • Meticulousness and team work.
