Role summary
We are looking for a agile and skilled Chief operator, Health, safety, and environment /NCD to head its HSE (HSE) and Nigerian Content Development (NCD) processes. This is a strategic executive function based in Lagos, requiring an individual with in-depth compliance-related expertise, robust stakeholder engagement competencies, and a established history in pushing adherence, safety culture, and local content effectiveness inside the petroleum sector industry.
Primary duties
- Head the development and implementation of Health, safety, and environment rules, programs, and standardized processes in line with national and international guidelines.
- Supervise the execution of Nigerian Content Development plans and ensure full adherence with NCDMB standard procedures and targets.
- Act as the primary communication link with compliance-related bodies, which includes NUPRC, NCDMB, DPR, and other applicable institutions.
- Carry out consistent risk evaluations, audits, and inspections across all processes to guarantee safe operating environments.
- Lead a safety-first culture across all levels of the company and project sites.
- Organize and show consistent documentation to strategic leadership and external participants.
- Recognize local capacity avenues and work alongside procurement and project teams to maximise Nigerian involvement.
Qualifications
- Bsc in Engineering, Ecological Sciences, or associated disciplines (MSC is a plus).
- Qualifications which includes NEBOSH, ISO 45001, or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of expertise, with a minimum of 5 years in a top level Health, safety, and environment/NCD executive function inside the upstream petroleum sector sector.
- Deep knowledge of NOGICD Act, Health, safety, and environment rules, and upstream industry procedures.
- Established history of interfacing with compliance-related agencies and coordinating audit/adherence programs.
- Outstanding executive guidance, information exchange, and participant relation competencies.
