Pharmaceutical technician at Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) - Holland in Sokoto

Primary goal of the role

Assisting the drug stock management in the appointed facilities under the oversight of the Purpose Pharmacy Manager of the project and according to MSF health rules and procedures, in order to support in the assurance of the proper management and allocation of drugs and medical devices

General Accountabilities

• In teamwork with the Pharmacy Manager, helping in the oversight, management and regulate of the medical inventory in the project in order to avoid ruptures, losses and gross overstock of drugs and other inventory and monitoring and supervising its storage terms
• In teamwork with the Pharmacy Manager, helping on a every month basis with project setup and authorization of order requests, making sure they are finished in efficient timeframe to prevent unnecessary orders in between. Checking in on drug ruptures.
• In teamwork with the Pharmacy Manager and other MSF team members, helping in the oversight, management, check in and regulate of medical/stock inventory in the MSF workspace, expat houses, and MSF cars. This comprises physical count, ordering and supervising of expired dates.
• Helping with the collection of usage from facilities on a minimum of a every month basis and collecting data about number of patients.
• Partnering with and helping the Pharmacy Manager in all associated every month documentation, and under the Pharmacy Manager’s oversight, sharing information and offering medical data to applicable MSF team members
• Optimizing and checking in the supervising operational structures in place.
• Assisting the MoH counterparts in their duties regarding supervising of drug usage, inventory management and getting ready/receiving orders.
• Execute cleaning and minor servicing & maintenance for biomedical tools used. Fol-lowing the end-user guides and procedures and warn manager in case of malfunctioning.
• Helping in getting ready and arranging development sessions for MSF employees.
• Offering programs continuity during manager’s absence and handovers; exchanging expertise in programme with incoming employees in a prompt, precise and productive manner

Dispensing and Allocation:

Dispense drugs to patients according to medical prescriptions either during crisis-management or non-crisis-management. Problem medical inventory to applicable units and offer details on keeping terms to sustain their operational and therapeutic potency. Assist in the daily management of the pharmacy store in Noma and ITFC during non-crisis periods. This comprises the project setup of orders for different usage units, dispensing of medication/medical materials, and usage tracking of the dispensed medications.

Crisis-management (EPREP)

• Organize and modify crisis-management kits based on the EPREP scenario that NERU is responding to (e.g., meningitis, measles, cholera, diphtheria, displacement).
• Ensure accessibility and preparedness of drugs and medical materials in the crisis preparedness inventory, in line with the response procedure.
• Coordinate with the PMR/MTL to guarantee crisis kits are tailored to the expected caseload and treatment needs.
• Track consumption of crisis kits during deploying and guarantee promptness replenishment.
•  Assist deploying of medical items and products (drugs and other medical consummables) by making sure all pharmaceutical items necessary for site processes are productively bundled, labeled, and transported with attention to cold chain servicing & maintenance.

Execute any other duty allocated by the Direct supervisor.
