Role description

The A&R is in charge of the recognition, purchase, and development of audio selections content and skilled for TuneAfrique’s catalog, with an emphasis on optimizing business opportunity, streaming effectiveness, and operational base visibility. The position requires a strong insight of local and diaspora audio selections markets, DSP mechanics, innovative development, and metadata honesty and reliability, all inside the structure of ability to scale digital allocation.   

Market & Genre Analysis:

• Track sonic practices, cultural changes, and sub-genre evolutions (Afrobeats, Street Pop, Alte, Amapiano, Afro-house, Gospel).
• Preserve rival evaluation of local A&R signings, key label initiatives, and self-sufficient market movements.
• Support findings to every quarter plan sessions and internal market assessments.

Qualifications & Credentials

• Bsc in Audio selections Business, Promotion, Communications, or relevant field preferred (but not necessary with robust related experience)
• 2 – 5+ years of expertise in A&R, artist management, audio selections promotion, or digital allocation.
• Understanding with audio selections rights, allocation models, and release plans
• Solid understanding of the digital audio selections ecosystem (Spotify, Apple Audio selections, YouTube, TikTok, etc.).
• Established history of recognizing and conceptualizing up-and-coming professional across various genres.
• Strong insight of African and diaspora audio selections cultures.
• Robust network inside the local innovative ecosystem (artists, studios, producers, etc.)
• Competence with online platforms used in allocation (e.g., CMS channels, metadata entry operational structures).
• Logical mentality with a innovative ear
• Outstanding verbal and professional writing; capable to concise innovative, lawful, and technical teams transparently.
