Job Description
Position Overview
The Entry-level Quantity survey specialist will play a main responsibility in the financial and binding management of building projects in Nigeria, from project organizing to dispatch. The position includes cost estimation, project setup of invoices of quantities (BOQ), tender assessment, agreement management, and making sure projects are fulfilled within financial plan and according to customer requirements. The preferred candidate should possess 4–7 years’ expertise in Nigerian building projects, solid understanding of local building materials, market pricing, and an comprehension of Nigerian agreement standardized processes and compliance obligations.
Primary duties Pre-Agreement:
- Organize thorough budget forecasts, viability assessments, and cost strategies tailored to the Nigerian building market.
- Formulate and evaluate Invoices of Quantities (BOQ) in line with standard methods of measurement (SMM) and Nigerian procedures.
- Assist tender project setup, assessment, and vendor talks.
- Carry out market surveys for building materials, tools, and work rates within Nigeria.
- Support to cost optimization to guarantee affordability without compromising quality.
Post-Agreement:
- Organize cost and cash-flow documentation to assist project financial controller.
- Carry out cost evaluation and organize concluding accounts for finished projects.
- Assist settlement of vendor payments at project close-out.
- Record lessons learned for future project enhancements.
Adherence & Quality:
- Guarantee alignment to organisation rules, building legal provisions, procurement rules, and specialist guidelines (NIQS, RICS).
- Stay informed on government rules and industry rules affecting building expenses.
- Assist risk evaluation and risk reduction plans for project dispatch.
Collaboration & Development:
- Collaborate with top level teammates to supply quality cost management results.
- Offer direction to entry-level team members or internship when necessary.
- Actively pursue career advancement through NIQSworkshops and development sessions.
Credentials & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree / Higher national diploma in Quantity Surveying from a identified Nigerian tertiary institution or polytechnic.
- Membership or graduate membership of NIQS (Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors) is a plus.
- Expertise: 4–7 years of specialist experience after graduation inside the Nigerian building industry (property, business-related, structure, petroleum sector or government projects).
- Deep knowledge of local building agreements.
- Competence in QS software which includes Candy, QS Plus, CostX, and robust use of Excel spreadsheet software.
- Reliable expertise in Nigerian building materials, work pricing, and stock chain hurdles.
- Robust logical, status updates, and quantitative competencies.
- Clear articulation, bargain, and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to operate under tight due dates, manage various projects, and oversee cost pressures common in Nigerian projects.
