Farm Hand - Greenhouse at Mary Ajoke Farms Limited in Gora, Karu LGA, Nasarawa

Position Overview

We are looking for a dependable, diligent, and meticulous Farm Hand to join our greenhouse team. The preferred candidate will help in the day-to-day activities of our greenhouse unit, assisting the development, care, and harvesting of a range of vegetables and high-value crops. This position is physically challenging and requires uniformity, schedule control, and a sharp perception for healthy plant growth.

Primary duties

• Help in the planting, transplanting, pruning, trellising, and harvesting greenhouse crops (e.g., tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, leafy greens).
• Track plant health and documentation signs of pests, disease, or nutrient deficiencies.
• Assist Combined Pest Management (IPM) procedures, which includes documented guide pest regulate and application of organic/inorganic treatments.
• Preserve cleanliness and company of greenhouse work zones.
• Help in consistent calibration and process of irrigation operational structures (drip operational structures, fertigation units).
• Track temperature, humidity, and ventilation operational structures and warn the manager to any anomalies.
• Ensure greenhouse technical resources are cleaned and stored properly.
• Precisely log planting dates, fertiliser application, pest regulate treatments, and harvest data.
• Preserve a crop diary as ordered by the manager.
• Harvest generate according to quality and maturity guidelines.
• Organize, grade, wash, and bundle generate for market or transport.
• Minimise post-harvest losses through proper managing and storage procedures.
• Follow safety procedures and hygiene guidelines.
• Help in development and leading seasonal or casual workers during peak times.
• Execute additional farm-associated obligations as necessary, which includes assist in nearby crop or livestock units if needed.

Credentials

• At least SSCE/WAEC certification; agricultural development will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of 1 year of expertise operating on a greenhouse or vegetable farm.
• Basic comprehension of plant growth and greenhouse processes.
• Physically suit and capable to execute physical work for extended periods in hot/humid environments.
• Capability to adhere to guidance, work with little to no supervision, and convey productively.
• Understanding with greenhouse tech (e.g., shade nets, insect-proof screens, drip irrigation, fertigation).
• Expertise with organic or maintainable farming procedures.
• Valid driver's permit with a clean pushing document.
• Fluency in English, Hausa and/or Yoruba.
