Position Explanation

  • We are looking for a diligent and dependable Farm Hand to assist day-to-day activities on our launch-site crop section.
  • The preferred candidate will help with land project setup, planting, weeding, irrigation, fertilisation, pest regulate, and harvesting.
  • This is a physically challenging position appropriate for individuals who are committed to agriculture and enjoy operating outdoors in changing weather terms.

Primary duties

  • Help in soil project setup, which includes tilling, bed formation, and compost application.
  • Execute prompt planting of crops according to the farm timetable.
  • Carry out documented guide and mechanical weeding as needed.
  • Submit application fertilisers and pesticides safely and in accordance with directions.
  • Set up, operate, and preserve irrigation operational structures.
  • Assist crop supervising, document-keeping, and scouting for pests or diseases.
  • Harvest crops by hand or using farm tools, making sure minimal loss.
  • Preserve the cleanliness and orderliness of the farm zone.
  • Documentation any concerns with crops, tools, or operational structures to the Launch Site Manager or Farm operations manager promptly.
  • Help in loading, sorting, and storing harvested generate.

Credentials

  • Basic literacy and numeracy competencies
  • Previous expertise operating on a farm, especially with crop generation, is desirable.
  • Basic comprehension of planting cycles, pest regulate, and irrigation.
  • Physically suit and capable to operate long hours in the sun, rain, or dusty terms.
  • Growth mindset and adhere to guidance closely.
  • Capability to operate both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Trustworthy, on time, and in charge.
  • Understanding with local crop types and growing seasons.
  • Expertise with basic farm machinery (e.g., hoes, knapsack sprayers, wheelbarrows, small tractors).
  • Expertise in safe chemical managing procedures.
  • Valid driver's permit with a clean pushing document.
  • Fluency in English, Hausa and/or Yoruba.
