Fiber Technician at Afconrecruit Limited in Abuja

Objective of the Position

The Fiber Technician will be in charge of site installation, splicing, termination, running test, diagnosing issues, and servicing & maintenance of fiber optic cables and associated structure. The position will ensure productive service dispatch and prompt solution of system problems.

Splicing & Running test:

Execute fiber splicing using fusion splicers. Test fiber links with OTDR, power meters, and other resources.

Diagnosing issues & Repairs:

Diagnose and settle fiber cuts, attenuation, and network access concerns. Deliver promptly assist for escalated client service issues.

Safety & Adherence:

Follow safety procedures and organisation guidelines. Ensure proper use and servicing & maintenance of resources and protective tools.

Outputs:

• Prompt and successful installation of client linkages.
• Reduced non-operational time and quick fault solution.
• Precise splicing, running test, and recordkeeping of fiber links.
• Current servicing & maintenance and service records.

Credentials and Expertise

• OND / Higher national diploma / Bsc in Electrical/Electronics, Telecommunications, or relevant field.
• 2–4 years’ expertise as a fiber technician or in telecoms site processes.
• Practical experience with fiber splicing, OTDR running test, and diagnosing issues.
• Deep knowledge of fiber optic cabling, connectors, and relationship building principles.
• Capability to operate at heights and in outdoor environments.
• Good analytical abilities and meticulousness.
