Job Description
Duties
- Carry out pre-assessment of surfaces to be coated to guarantee proper surface project setup, which includes checking for cleanliness, roughness, and profile before coating application.
- Track ecological terms which includes temperature, humidity, and dew point to guarantee they are inside the specified limits for coating application.
- Execute wet and dry film thickness measurements of submitted application coatings to guarantee they meet the specified qualifications.
- Confirm and record the accurate mixing and application of coating materials according to technical data sheets and project requirements.
- Supervise and examine the application of protective coatings to structural steel, piping, and tools.
- Carry out concluding inspections and inspection procedures on finished work to guarantee it meets all quality benchmarks and customer requirements.
- Organize and preserve thorough assessment documentation, routine data records, and recordkeeping of all coating initiatives, which includes materials used, tools, and staff.
- Verify that every coating work follows with relevant safety codes, industry guidelines (e.g., NACE, SSPC), and customer requirements.
- Organize with the Coating Manager and other project team members to settle any non-conformances or quality concerns that arise.
- Evaluate coating requirements, technical data sheets, and project drawings to comprehend role expectations and quality benchmarks.
- Help in development and training entry-level inspectors and other team members on quality assurance standardized processes.
Qualifications
- A applicable technical accreditation in coatings assessment from a reputable institution (e.g., NACE, FROSIO, or SSPC) is essential. A Academic qualification in a associated engineering site is a plus.
- At least 8years of expertise as a Coating Examiner, with a minimum of 5years particularly in an remote marine operations petroleum sector environment, with a established history of operating on the Bonga FPSO.
- Demonstrated expertise evaluating surface project setup and coating application for servicing & maintenance, building, and turnaround projects.
- Must hold valid remote marine operations qualifications which includes BOSIET, OSP, and a valid medical certification.
- This role requires operating in a difficult remote marine operations industrial environment on channels or vessels.
- Robust capability to analyze coating requirements and technical documents.
- Thorough expertise in surface project setup methods (e.g., abrasive blasting) and coating application methods.
- Competence in various coating operational structures, material data sheets, and quality assurance standardized processes.
- Clear expression and people skills to coordinate productively with operational base management, service providers, and other participants.
