Counsellor / Teacher at Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) - Belgium in Maiduguri, Borno

Duties

• Recognize the psychosocial, socio-economic and managerial needs for patients.
• Strongly advocate the accessibility of counselling solutions and carry out, individual or in group counselling, basic psycho teaching sessions, to patients, their families (when needed), in order to ease their psychosocial difficulties inside the project scope.
• Refer patients to other specialists or other institutions for further support, as required, in order to present the best assist accessible. • Engage in the formation of any material needed for counselling initiatives and observe after it,
• Keep files and statistics of routine initiatives and engage in team sessions to distribute experiences and discuss special cases with other counsellors, retaining secrecy. • Inform direct supervisor of any issue of any kind arising during the daily initiatives.
• Take active part in development sessions, supervisions/interventions and assist the initiatives manager as required, in doing sensitization for MSF employees or external associates about mental health /psychosocial concerns.
• Discuss difficulties and challenges in counselling with manager.

Qualifications

Applicants should have an OND / Bachelor's degree Academic qualification with a minimum of 2 years work expertise.
