Job Description
Primary duties
- Offer free counsel and assist to survivors of SGBV at police stations.
- Stand for customers during police questions, bail hearings, and other applicable lawful standardized processes.
- Coordinate client recommendations to courts, Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs), and other justice-associated solutions.
- Preserve precise and private records of all lawful solutions and customer engagements.
- Work alongside law enforcement officers, SARCs, and group response teams to enhance survivor results.
- Engage in development sessions connected with SGBV, trauma-informed care, lawful ethics, and group justice.
- Organize and send prompt documentation and status reports to the project team as necessary
Credentials
- Bachelor of Legal provisions (LL.B) and Barrister-at-Law (BL); must be called to the Nigerian Bar.
- At least 3 years’ post-call expertise, ideally in criminal law, human rights law, or lawful assist work.
- Proven expertise operating with survivors of SGBV or other at risk groups is a robust advantage.
- Deep knowledge of Nigerian lawful and criminal justice operational structures, especially as they refer to gender justice.
- Expertise in English and Hausa
- Outstanding documented and spoken communication verbal abilities.
