Position Overview

The Anaesthetic Technician’s main duty is to do patient assist and track vital signs post-surgery to guarantee smooth and quick recovery post-surgery and ensure the wellbeing of patients.

Role summary Before Surgery:

• Arranges tools needed for the patient to safely undergo Anesthesia
• Helping in setting up the anesthetic machine
• Project setup of intravenous drugs
• Helping in getting ready variety of devices to preserve the patient's airway (e.g.laryngeal masks, endotracheal tube)
• Sharing information with the patient when they arrive at the operating theatre
• Project setup of Anesthetics checklist procedures
• Establishing and securing an airway under the oversight of the Advisor Anesthesiologist.
• Making sure that patients are positioned in such a way as NOT to cause discomfort or injury during their standardized process.

During Surgery:

• Supervising and preserving patients'vital signs
• Collection and evaluation of patient (blood) samples.
• Obtaining and managing transfusion fluids and tools.
• Work closely under the oversight of the Advisor Anesthesiologist.

After Surgery:

• Waking the patient after the surgery.
• Removing airway devices.
• Transferring patients to post-operative care units
• Care and servicing & maintenance of critical resources.

Credentials

• A Certification in Anesthetic Tech from a reputable tertiary institution training hospital.
• A minimum of 2 years of work expertise in the same position
• A good expertise in peri-operatives is essential for the position.
