Medical laboratory technologist at Reliance Health in Ikorodu, Lagos

Role summary

The medical laboratory technologist is anticipated to use his domain expertise and competencies to supply quality and precise diagnostics solutions to the patients. The position includes executing standard procedure and improved medical laboratory tests and standardized processes, tools servicing & maintenance, and making sure the current standards oversight system is preserved

Duties

•  Executing pre-logical standardized processes e.g. sample collection, segregation, accessioning, wrapping, evaluate of samples for acceptance or rejection, etc.
• Operate and preserve medical diagnostics analyzers, instruments, and other table tops resources.
•  Execute sample running test and status updates, Recognition of critical outcomes and escalating same as per set procedure.
•  Executes necessary tools calibration, running of regulates, analyzing internal quality regulates, and actioning of same.
• Keeping applicable recordkeeping current (e.g. work cards, worksheets, stock data records, servicing & maintenance data records, etc.).
• Timeous release of laboratory outcomes (within stipulated Turnaround times).
• Preserving good laboratory procedures.
• Optimization of the use of laboratory products (reagents, consumables, kits, others).
• Utilizes LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) for specimen tracking, outcomes entry, result authorization, and status updates.
• Sustains rigid patient information protection and secrecy.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS) with a ongoing practicing permit issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). 1-3 years post-service experience work expertise (ideally in a hospital-based laboratory)
