Position Overview
- The Medical laboratory technologist – Manager will head the laboratory department at KCTC, making sure precise, dependable, and prompt diagnostic solutions that assist oncology care.
- This position is in charge of coordinating laboratory employees, preserving QA operational structures, and monitoring adherence with national and international laboratory guidelines.
- By joining specialized skill with executive guidance, the Lab Manager will lead superiority in diagnostics, assist patient treatment results, and strengthen KCTC's reputation for world-class healthcare dispatch.
Primary duties
- Head and oversee the day-to-day activities of the laboratory, making sure effectiveness and precision in all diagnostic standardized processes.
- Oversee laboratory employees, which includes planning, performance check, and career advancement.
- Guarantee adherence with compliance obligations and certification guidelines (MI.SCN, ISO, WHO, etc.).
- Supervise quality assurance, competence running test, and QA programs across all lab units (hematology, biochemistry, histopathology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics).
- Establish and preserve standard operating standardized processes (SOPs) for all laboratory methods.
- Track laboratory stock, oversee procurement of reagents, consumables, and tools, and ensure cost-efficient asset utilization.
- Work alongside clinicians and oncologists to analyze test outcomes and assist patient treatment decisions.
- Ensure safety procedures are followed, which includes biosafety, infection prevention, and waste management.
- Formulate and oversee unit-specific financial plans, track expenditures, and documentation on financial effectiveness.
- Assist analysis, creative invention, and ongoing development programs inside the laboratory.
- Organize periodic documentation on laboratory effectiveness, which includes turnaround times, error rates, and adherence indicators.
- Stand for the laboratory in cross-functional team sessions and external specialist collaborations.
Qualifications Credentials
- Bsc in Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution.
- MSC in Laboratory Science, Healthcare Management, or relevant field preferred.
- Valid permit with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Accreditation or development in laboratory standards oversight, biosafety, or certification guidelines are a plus.
Expertise Qualifications
- At least 7 - 10 years post-certification expertise in a clinical or diagnostic laboratory.
- A minimum of 3 years in a leadership or executive position within a healthcare facility.
- Expertise in oncology-associated diagnostics or molecular pathology preferred.
- Established history in laboratory standards oversight and certification methods.
