Overview

• Maternal and Perinatal Mortality are Obstetric and neonatal tragedies global. Of the worldwide Maternal Mortality occurrences, the vast majority occur in low-asset settings and Nigeria accounts for nearly 20% of the worldwide death.
• The lifetime risk of dying in Nigeria is 1 in 22 during pregnancy, childbirth or postpartum period compared to 1 in 4,900 in most conceptualize countries.
• The causes of maternal mortality comprise of Pre-eclampsia /Eclampsia (PEE), blocked work, postpartum hemorrhage, puerperal sepsis and abortion complications.
• These causes are treatable and preventable when work is monitored by Proficient Birth Attendants (SBAs). Perinatal morbidity and mortality are strongly connected to events during pregnancy and work.
• The high rate in Nigeria is a result of poor maternal health, sub-most effective care during pregnancy and childbirth, and lack of newborn care.
• The key causes of newborn deaths are birth asphyxia, neonatal sepsis and prematurity. Universal entry to Complete Crisis Obstetrics and Neonatal Care (CEmONC) solutions is one of the plans that can reduce these deaths and sufferings along with the ten core signal processes of the solutions.
• Optimizing entry to quality complete crisis obstetrics and newborn care is critical to reducing these preventable maternal and newborn deaths and is a top priority of the Government of Nigeria.
• Therefore, as part of the dedication of the Federal Ministry of Health and Community-related Welfare (FMOHSW) to guarantee that there are well equipped CEmONC facilities throughout the country to offer quality healthcare solutions, a nationwide CEmONC health facility evaluation was executed. to recognized current differences.
• As part of the endeavors to bridge the recognized differences in healthcare workers skills, Jhpiego, in partnership with Kebbi, Kano and Katsina State Governments, through financing from USG in Nigeria, offer technical support to GoN to bridge the capacities of doctors, nurses, midwives, anaesthetic nurses, laboratory scientists/assistants in selected health facilities in 3 states.

Duties

• Each adhoc will engage in a one day competencies standardization workshop to be arrange by Jhpiego.
• Carry out an in-field skills development of an average of 4 healthcare care workers, which would comprise of doctors, nurses and midwives.
• Carry out check in training of the prepared healthcare workers to strengthen their trust and skilled in using the newly obtained expertise and competencies.
• Carry out pre- and post-test evaluation for each of the modules of the development plan.
• Assemble and send a complete documentation of the development within 5 operating days after finalization of the development.
• Engage in a one day post-development review meeting with primary stakeholders in the state.

Outputs:

Thorough and analysed pre- and post- development scores for each of the assistant for each module of the development plan. Description documentation of the development to be provided within 5 operating days of finalization of the development.

Necessary Credentials

• Registered and practicing anaesthesiologist with a minimum of 5 years post-certification operating expertise.
• Evidence of previous and ongoing work expertise offering anaesthesia solutions for obstetric terms in a facility supplying CEmONC solutions.
• Evidence of previous expertise carrying out development on anaesthesia part of CEmONC or a similar development especially inside the final 24 months or ongoing/recent faculty member/trainer in an obstetric and/or anaesthesiology residency or nursing officer anaesthetist development programme
• Evidence of possessing current yearly practicing permit with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
• Evidence of robust mentoring, training and facilitation competencies
• Evidence of robust logical and verbal abilities.
• Commute: Capability to commute 70, especially to Facilities in the work site.
